Recent Work: Stair Runner Carpet Display Fitted for Store
10th January 2026
This Rotherham project shows how much impact a stair runner can have, even in a commercial setting.
The store wanted a staircase that felt more finished, more inviting and more useful as a display for customers. Instead of covering the full width of the stairs, a fitted runner was chosen to create a classic centre strip, leaving the painted stair edges visible on either side.
The contrast works beautifully. The light patterned runner softens the staircase, while the dark edging gives a sharp, framed finish. Paired with the black stair rods and white steps, the whole staircase now has a much more premium, traditional look.
This is also a great example for homeowners who want something a little different from a standard fully fitted carpet. A stair runner can add character, texture and a real design feature to a hallway, especially when finished with borders and stair rods.
For practical use, the carpeted centre section gives comfort and grip underfoot, while the exposed sides keep the staircase looking clean and decorative. It is a style that works well in both modern homes and more traditional interiors.
This display has been fitted in-store, but the same look can be created in your own home with a choice of runner styles, border colours and finishing details.
